Victims of the Adum fire outbreak in Kumasi have declined a donation from Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak, consisting of 1,500 bags of rice, 800 boxes of cooking oil, and soap, stating that it does not meet their needs.
The impacted traders emphasized that they require financial assistance to revive their businesses rather than food provisions.
This has garnered different reactions, with many fans expressing their differing opinions on Adum merchants’ behaviour towards Mr. Muntaka’s efforts to extend his helping hand to them.
Their claims are based on their response, which included accepting a cash gift of GHC 200,000 and 1000 bags of cement from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to help restore their shops after a severe fire destroyed goods worth millions.
