Wa Central: NPP parliamentary candidate publicly rejects Bawumia, campaigns for Mahama

In a surprising turn of events, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central, Hajia Humu Awudu displayed a banner featuring herself alongside former President John Dramani Mahama during a recent constituency health walk.

This alignment with the opposition leader Mahama has sparked widespread criticism and raised questions about her loyalty to the NPP and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The banner, boldly showcasing images of Mahama and Humu Awudu with the words “Perfect Combination for Upper West Region,” was held high as supporters paraded through Wa Central. This act has been described by political observers as a “betrayal” and an obvious admission of the NPP’s failure to deliver on its promises to the people.

“Hajia Humu’s actions speak volumes,” an NDC spokesperson stated. “By aligning with Mahama, she’s acknowledging the failure of her own party’s leadership. Even NPP candidates are beginning to realize that only the NDC can bring real change and hope to Ghanaians.”

The NPP has faced growing discontent under their administration. In Wa Central, where frustrations are high, Hajia Humu’s apparent endorsement of Mahama has fueled discussions about the NPP’s weakening hold in the region due to the ruling party's inability to address the social and economic issues that have brought nothing but unbearable hardship and suffering.

“If an NPP candidate cannot stand behind her own flagbearer, how can she expect the people to trust her? This move highlights the desperation within the NPP,” the spokesperson added.

The display of the banner has been interpreted as a symbolic shift in allegiance and a significant boost to the NDC’s campaign in the Upper West Region. As Ghanaians prepare for the upcoming elections, this act by Hajia Humu is seen as a sign that even within the NPP, confidence in their leadership is waning.

With Ghanaians yearning for genuine change, the NDC’s John Mahama continues to gain traction as the preferred candidate to lead the country back to stability and growth.
