NPP gov’t misleading Ghanaians with the launching of several Apps – Abeiku Santana

Veteran broadcaster Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, widely known as Abeiku Santana, has cautioned Ghanaians against what he describes as deceptive tactics by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He claims that the party is using a series of app launches as part of its campaign strategy to secure votes for its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming presidential election.

Addressing supporters at an NDC campaign rally, Abeiku Santana criticised the NPP government’s digital agenda, suggesting that the numerous app launches are a ploy to mislead the public rather than a genuine effort at digital transformation.

“The biggest music destination in Africa is Nigeria. Do they have a music streaming app? Have you heard an app has been created by Ghanaians for Nigerians to stream music? It’s a lie,” Abeiku Santana remarked.

He further added, “They recently said they have launched a music streaming app. It’s a lie. We always hear they have created this and that app. That is what they are using to mislead Ghanaians, but they are all lies. Don’t allow them to lie to you and tell you it’s digitalisation.”

He contrasted the NPP’s approach with that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, whom he praised for having a more comprehensive vision for the country’s creative arts and tourism sector.

“So we have an end-to-end policy, programmes, and ideas that are going to transform the creative arts and tourism sector,” Abeiku Santana noted, emphasising the NDC’s commitment to policies that he believes will offer tangible benefits and genuine growth in these industries.

Abeiku Santana’s remarks come at a time when both major political parties are intensifying their campaigns, each trying to sway voters with their vision for the future.

As the election draws closer, it remains to be seen whether criticisms like those from Abeiku Santana will resonate with the electorate or if the NPP’s digitalisation efforts will prove convincing enough to secure another term in office.
