Interior Minister declares Monday August 5 as public holiday


The Interior Ministry has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, a public holiday to commemorate Founders’ Day, which falls on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

According to a statement issued by Interior Minister Henry Quartey on Wednesday, July 31, Sunday, August 4, is a statutory public holiday, but since it falls on a Sunday, President Akufo-Addo has declared the following day, Monday, August 5, as an additional public holiday.

This declaration follows Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601).

The public is hereby informed that Monday, August 5, should be observed as a public holiday throughout the country.
