All You Should Know About Ghana Card Before The Deadline



 The Ghana Card is a national Identity card that is issued by the Ghanaian authorities to Ghanaian citizens – both resident and non-resident, and legally and permanently resident foreign nationals. It is proof of identity, citizenship and residence of the holder. The current version is in ID1 format and biometric.

At the beginning of the year every Ghanaian is advised to get the Ghana card because it will be the only identification card that  will be to undertake transactions at all Bank of Ghana licensed and regulated financial institutions and will be link to every SIM card before service can be rendered to a customer of MTN,VODAFONE,AIRTELTIGO and GLO. 

July 1st is the deadline for those who haven’t link their Ghana Card to their sim.

How to Link Ghana Card to SIM card

  • Dial the short code *404#
  • Enter Ghana Card Pin (Note: Enter letters and figures without hyphens)
  • Confirm Ghana Card Pin.
  • Enter Surname.
  • Enter First Name(s)
  • Enter Date of Birth (Format: DDMMYYYY)
  • Select Sex.
  • Confirm Details.

A unique code will be sent to you if it successfully done.Visit the nearest MTN office in your area with your unique code for your biometric registration.

Use of Ghana Card for All Financial Transactions.

Here is the statement released by the Bank Of Ghana 

In furtherance of its objective of ensuring the safety of the financial system, Bank of Ghana pursuant to Regulation 7 of the National Identity Register, 2012 (L.I. 2111), hereby directs that with effect from 1st July, 2022, the Ghana Card shall be the only identification card that will be to undertake transactions at all Bank of Ghana licensed and regulated financial institutions including:
