Popular movie star, John Dumelo, appears to have abandoned his dream of annexing the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat in the Greater Accra for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) after sustaining humiliating defeat in the last general elections.
The actor cum farmer was said to have set his eyes high on a new constituency in what many assert it is impossible for him to wrest the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.
He has reportedly started taking steps for the people in the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lipke and Lolobi (SALL) to have him at hearts and remember him when he might need them in the nearest future to do the needful.
The EC is yet to create a constituency for the SALL people.
John Dumelo celebrated some of the festive season with the people there with his foundation dishing out goodies to the constituents.
Furtherance to that it appears to have found a new home there as he celebrated the new year with them after he crossed over to 2022 at the St Michael’s Catholic Church Lolobi and then in Likpe Bakua.
Prior to that, John Dumelo joined some of the youth of Likpe Kukrantumi and Santrokofi for a health walk as well as fund raising for a community center project in Santrokofi.
John Dumelo failed in his bid to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2020 polls.
The incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, retained the seat after the close of polls.
Certified results from the Electoral Commission (EC) gave Alhassan 39,851 votes as against Dumelo’s 37,778 votes.
Alhassan won the parliamentary seat back in 2019 in a by-election following the death of her husband Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko, who was the MP at that time.
